Finding Joy in the Garden
What is your passion?
For Julia, one of her greatest passions has always been growing flowers. Over the years, I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve expanded or started new flower beds—and this year was no exception.
A few seasons ago, Julia tucked a handful of dahlias into our vegetable garden. By the following summer, the “vegetable garden” had transformed into a flourishing dahlia patch. This year, I dug up another new bed (shared partly with our son and daughter-in-law), which gave Julia room to plant more than 50 dahlia plants!
A special thank you goes out to Jim and Jackie, dear friends and art customers, who generously shared some of their dahlia tubers with us. Because of them—and Julia’s green thumb—we’re now in peak bloom season. Every other day, Julia is out in the garden cutting another armful of vibrant dahlias. Our home is overflowing with color and fragrance, and many of our friends and neighbors are enjoying bouquets as well.
Just as Julia finds inspiration for her paintings in the garden, her joy in nurturing flowers is a reminder of how fulfilling it can be to pursue what you love.
Find your passion—it’s bound to bring you joy!
